ANDY

Andy is one of the original members of the band, and he plays the alto sax and the flute superbly!  He let it slip at one of our rehearsals that his main instrument is actually the guitar!  He studied music at university so it’s no surprise he’s a maestro!  When he’s not playing for us, he plays in a brass ensemble.

AMY

Amy plays the tenor saxophone for us and she will likely tell you she is the least experienced in the band, but what she might not tell you is that she has been Spider Woman and Bat Woman in a marching band, and that she wrote and performed on the brass parts with legendary award winning band Lady Winwoods Maggot!

LAUREN

Lauren is our trumpet and flugelhorn player.  She’s another musical wizard in the band and does a lot of work behind the scenes writing out and helping to arrange our brass parts.  Her flugelhorn is a thing of beauty to look at!  Lauren also studied music at university and she can also play the drums and probably more!  She also plays trumpet for a Ska band.

JACK

Baritone saxophone is mastered by none other than Jack! Jack is another musical genius, and he can play all types of saxophones to an incredible standard. In addition to that, he is an amazing piano and keyboard player and was the founding member of the Ska band The Decatonics. He has also played baritone saxophone with Bad Manners.

CHAZ

Our lead vocalist is Chaz. How do we start to describe Chaz? She has a supreme voice. We often wonder as a band how we got a singer so good. Her tuning is exceptional, her tone is beautiful and her range is incredible. She tackles songs that are completely new to her and she just runs with it. Chaz has been singing for years, and is heavily involved in a choir in her home town. Once upon a time she was a Grade 8 violin player! We are so glad that after a break from singing in a band, she joined us in The SoulSonics.

SHAN

On guitar and backing vocals we have Shan. His sympathetic playing style is a huge part of how the band creates our sound, and his energetic bursts on stage are always great fun. He can also play the drums and bass guitar and often tells us how lucky he is to be in a band playing the music we do.

JOHN

John is our very experienced drummer who doesn’t miss a beat! John also does some backing vocals for us. John has been drumming all his life for a variety of acts and brings his skill and attention to detail to the band and helps us to be authentic. John also plays in a vintage trio called ‘Keep on Running’ playing hits from the 1960-1970’s – so he’s a perfect fit for our style of music.

JOHNNY

Hammond organ and other keyboard parts are provided by Johnny who has played for a number of established acts along the south coast, the most notable of which  is Orange Street, a very well known Ska band started back in 1996. Johnny also sings some backing vocals in the band and is often called on by other bands when they need a ‘dep’ keyboard player.

FOIVOS

Foivos is our bass player and is the glue that holds the band together. Foivos is also an accomplished double bass player and loves his jazz as much as the soul music we play. His family live abroad, and he even has a double bass and a bass guitar at the family home, so he’s never far away from his four strings. Foivos is one of the two longest standing members in the band.
